Sunday was mostly a free day with our host families. My particularly outgoing host mom took me and Mireya to the city center. We explored the churches, watched the changing of the guard at the palace, and heard some folkloric music in the squares. It was an excellent appetizer for the activities to come and a wonderful way to connect with the descriptions we’ve been reading about in our textbook.

After spending the day with our host families, we all met at Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Incan archaeological site right here in Miraflores. After a fascinating guided tour of the “huaca” (Quechua for “holy place”), we were seated at the on-site restaurant for a luxurious five course meal. Spirits were high and the #Spanish was flowing as the group really started to form bonds. #HuacaPucllana #Inca
